Funeral services for Mrs. Ira Lee Ward Weems will be 1PM, Wed. Aug. 30, Church of God by Faith, Inc., Dothan. Interment will be in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Her beginning...Mrs. Ira Lee (Ward) Weems was born on March 30, 1940 to the late Eddie Ward and Pecola Butts. She departed this life on August 23, 2012.
Her salvation...She accepted Christ at an early age and later joined the Church of God by Faith, Inc., where she worked faithfully with the young people until her health began to deteriorate.
Her marriage...She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Jimmie Floyd Weems on December 3, 1960. To this union three children were born.
Left to cherish her memories...She leaves to cherish her memories three children: Jimmy Raynonal Weems (Nita), Deborah Jean Weems all of Ashford, Alabama and Dorathea Gayle Jordan (Arthur) of Kinsey, Alabama; one brother: Willie Jay Ward (Cathy) of Orlando, Florida; one sister: Beryl Jean Fuller of Orlando, Florida; two stepbrothers: Johnny Butts (Dorothy) Butts of Columbia, Alabama and Tommy Curry of Clermont, Florida; two brothers-in-law: Bozzie Weems, Jr., and Harvey Weems (Gloria) all of Fort Pierce, Florida; one sister-in-law: Rosie Lee Mapps of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Kristian Delane Holmes of Loveland, Ohio, Andrew Jarrod, Andrac' Jarron, and Arthur Lee Jordan III all of Kinsey, Alabama, Clarissa Lajuan and Janay Maria Weems both of Birmingham, Alabama and Miranda Nicole Weems of Ashford, Alabama; two great grandchildren: Jaelynn Gabrielle Jordan of Webbs, Alabama and Kaiden Amari Jordan of Dothan, Alabama; one special god grandchild: Antavius Reeves of Dothan, Alabama.
Special godchildren: Willie Pearl Fulton of Rochester, NY, Ida Carthon of Dothan, Alabama, Nellie Mae Smith, Abraham Smith and Sandra Faye Smith all of Ashford, Alabama, Jerome Fortson of Lakeland, Florida, Naomi Freeman (Peaches) of Dothan, Alabama, Brenda Turner of Ashford, Alabama, Ann Ashley of Ashford, Alabama, Diane Roberts of Donalsonville, Georgia, David Nix of Dothan, Alabama and a host of other godchildren.
She touched many lives, young and old, as she made her journey through this earth. She worked in the church as the WWC President and the elementary Sunday School teacher for her home church and she also served in the capacity on the district until the declination of her health.
