Mrs. Annie L. Dunlap, affectionately known to all as Tilly, was a beacon of unwavering strength and joy whose life illuminated the path of everyone she touched. Born on June 15, 1943, Annie's journey through this world was marked by her boundless energy and an ever-present smile that could brighten the darkest of days.
On March 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family, Annie closed her eyes for the last time, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and inspiration.
Annie's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Willie G. Bradham and Houston Dunlap, her dear parents, Judge and Annie Mathis, and her cherished siblings, Maryann Blackmon, Willie Pearl Mathis, Mary L. Mathis, Jesse Mathis, Joe Louis Mathis, Grover Mathis, and Jesse Frank Mathis; her children: Louise Dunlap, Horace Dunlap and Timothy Dunlap; and three grandchildren. Though they left the world before her, the love they shared continued to guide Annie throughout her days.
Survived by her adoring children Willie Bradham, Harriet Bradham, and Marvin Dunlap and Latonia Edwards, and her eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, Annie's spirit will continue to resonate through the generations. Her sisters, Sara Mathis of Dothan, Alabama, and Alma Mathis of New Haven, Connecticut, will hold dear the memories of their sister, whose laughter and counsel were as steady as the stars.
To the world, Annie may have been just one person, but to her family, she was the world. As a mother, she was both a gentle nurturer and a fierce protector. As a grandmother, her wisdom was a guiding light, and her hugs were a safe haven. Annie's love knew no bounds, and her guidance was the compass by which many navigated life's challenges.
As we say goodbye to the physical presence of Annie L. Dunlap, we are comforted by the knowledge that her spirit will forever grace the lives of those she has left behind. She leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire and motivate, a reminder that each day is a gift and an opportunity to make a positive impact.
