    Mrs. Thelma Jewel Knight Davis of Dothan Alabama passed away on August 18, 2013 at her home. She was "82".

     Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2013 from 4-6 P.M at the Funeral Home.

      Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2013 11:00 AM at the Acts Christian Church Center 2937 Baggett Rd Dothan Alabama.
  
    Burial will be follow at the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Cowart AL; under the direction of the caring staff of Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary "Because We Care".

    Thelma Jewel Knight Davis was born October 8, 1930, in Geneva County Alabama to the late Dave Knight and Tommie D. West Knight.
 
     She was the third youngest of seven children. She began her early childhood education in the schools of Geneva County. She accepted Christ at an early age. Her family moved to Dothan in the late 1940's. In Dothan, she attended and graduated from Carver High School in the Class of 1950.  

     She was later married to Willie L. Davis for 60 years. Three children were born to this union - Cynthia, Stanley and Melba.  

     Their family traveled briefly with the military before the birth of Melba. Thelma worked for several years with Dr. William R. Greenfield. Years later, she was employed by the J.C. Penney Company until she retired.  

     She loved working with children and the elderly. She especially loved her church family. Thelma was a faithful member of Acts Church Christian Center where she was an active member who loved to serve others. She served her church family until the occurrence of her illness.
 
     Thelma departed this life on August 18, 2013 after a brief illness.

     She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Davis, her parents Dave and Tommie Knight, her sister Doris Knight Turner, and four brothers, Tance Knight, Darry Knight, Talmadge Knight and Ralph Knight.

     She leaves to cherish her memories: three devoted children, Cynthia Davis Lockhart, Stanley Davis (Renee), Melba R. Davis, one brother Melva Knight, one brother-in-law, James Davis, nine grandchildren:  Regina Culbreath (Jimmy), Allen Lockhart-Davis, Wesley Lockhart-Davis (Tamara),  Taj Davis (Lynn), Brandon Davis, Romyel Lawrence, Nazya Lawrence Ramsey (Raymond), Eloira Lawrence, and Tyler Sconiers; fifteen great-grandchildren: Tabitha Lockhart, Jada Culbreath, James (JJ) Culbreath Jr., Kayson Allen, Jaylen Lockhart, Brooklyn Davis, Breanna Davis, MacKenzy Davis, Ka-leel Davis, Kai-Lai Davis, Kenley Davis, Madison Davis, Asher Davis, London and Titus Ramsey, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, a beloved cousin Ellen Miller Williams, and special friends Edna McLloyd, Mae Greenfield, Mary Anderson, and Johnnie B. Calloway.   We give a very special thanks to Stella Billingsley, Annie B. Wilson, Eddie B. Walker, and SouthernCare Inc. (Home Health and Hospice) for their devoted care and loving kindness during our mom's illness.
